  Every so often a pub comes along that gets food right. This is not one of them, never an outstanding meal, some are pleasant and passable but more often than not I leave soured by the experience and bitten again and again thinking a tiger may change its stripes or some other analogy like that. Special pasta Wednesday may have been special if it wasn't served up in the dishwater it was overcooked in, not even resembling 'pasta' but more a backwash of baby vomit with some leftover meats thrown in for good measure. The 300g rump is another prime example of how even the likes of an amateur cook can easily get employed at this establishment and be passed as a chef. Medium rare is the standard, never reached, either by overcooking or undercooking the meat rendering a chewy indigestible abysmal mess. The wait staff are enough of a delight you tend to forget the overpriced beer. A hit and miss dining experience that misses more than hits, especially with the dismissal of cob loaf for the less appetising buttered rock slabs or what they call 'garlic bread' Verdict: Swill but never grill
